It appears to be Monday again. Another weekend has whisked us by as we drag out of winter towards British Summer Time. What a weekend we have had!
Friday we had a bandless night for a change. A really chilled night was just what was called for, gave me chance to try a couple of the beers we had delivered during the day that I mentioned before. One that is worth a mention is the Nogne O Imperial Brown Ale which at £6.50 for a 500ml bottle is great value for what can only be described as one of my favourite beers. Just stunning!
Saturday started with a great qualifying for the F1 seeing the Ferraris not even qualifying in the top 10 and Hamilton on pole. After we opened, we had the rugby on. Watching Wales play brilliant rugby to win the Grand Slam and then England beat Ireland, on Saint Patricks too! Good times. Straight after the England game, we flicked the channel to put the last half of the FA Cup match between Spurs and Bolton only to see it abandoned. Within minutes we realised what had happened and we were all dumbstruck. We all hope that Muamba recovers well and that there is no difficulties in his long-term recovery.
Saturday night started to fill up on the run-in to Manatees starting. Having not seen these guys before, I didn’t really know what to expect. All I knew was that there would be a blues influence somewhere and that is was looking promising. With Elliott White on drums and Tom Read on bass, the rhythm section was sorted. In the middle was Nick on guitar and Mark on keyboards, all fronted by Garry “The Hat” White on vox. When they started, it was with a great funky sound. Not straight blues, but like a fusion of jazz, funk and blues. Bloody great fun though! The second set was equally as good, and more up beat. A super band who we have booked for later in the year.
Sunday came round too quick for my liking, but it meant the F1 race was my wake-up. Great racing and a super result for McLaren and Jensen Button. The morning also saw me taking a drive to pick up my new bike that I mentioned the other day. A lovely little bike that will do me great for early evening pub strolls and nipping to town. With Man United having a goal fest in the afternoon and then a chilled evening, a great end to the weekend.
Signing off for now…
